The Chennai unit of Directorate General of Goods and Service Tax Intelligence (DGGSTI) denied the media reports of raids that were carried out in Vishal’s production company.
An official statement released by DGGSTI stated that certain news channels have been falsely featuring that a search has been conducted in the office premises of the Tamil actor Vishal, who is the president of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Association. The DGGSTI officials have denied the claims and asserted no such raids have been organized; the news is false and factually incorrect.
These allegations follow the controversy surrounding the Tamil film Mersal, which has dialogues criticizing GST.
