Dubai central Prison witnessed an incident when a female inmate physically assaulted an on-duty policewoman and verbally abused her.
The 23-year-old Emirati’s attack on the police officer happened on December 26 last year, after the latter apparently saw the woman almost in the buff and told her to put her clothes on and step off a chair on which she was dancing.
The court convicted her of performing an indecent act in public after she flashed the middle finger at the officer. She now has to serve an additional 6 months in prison.
The inmate confessed she was dancing in the yard but claimed she had taken the approval of a police major. “However, the complainant came to me and shouted.”
She admitted she insulted the police officer, pulled her hair and kicked her. She claimed the officer pulled her hair, too.
A woman cop, who witnessed the incident, said she was on duty at the prison when she saw the accused dancing “almost naked” on a chair.
“My colleague – the complainant – signaled to her from behind a glass façade to step off the chair. But the inmate flashed the middle finger. When the policewoman entered the yard, the inmate took off all her clothes.”
The witness added: “When the complainant told her to go to her cell to put her clothes back on, the accused verbally abused her. The policewoman told her not to insult her. As she was talking to a colleague, I saw the accused attacking her from behind. She pulled her hair and bit her in her left arm. We took her away from our colleague.”
