In the wake of a wide protest against the celebration of Deen Dhayal centenary celebration in schools, the Kerala Government withdrew its controversial circular today. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) issued a circular to the schools in Kerala by DPI. The circular sent has instructed the schools to conduct programmes as a part of celebrating the centenary of Deen Dhayal Upadhyay.
In protest against the circular, many students union came up alleging that the LDF government is encouraging Sangh Parivar, a BJP ally derived from RSS to celebrate their leaders’ birth centenary. Former KSU President Hibi Eden said it showed that the CPM led government is doing in favor to the Modi Government’s agenda to rewrite the history and thereby poisoning the young minds of Kerala.
Deen Dhayal Upadhyay born on 25th September 1916, was one of the top leaders of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of present-day BJP. He is not even praised as a freedom fighter and hence the State Government canceled the previously sent circular and asked schools to not conduct any special programmes today.
