Last week Dubai night sky was lighted up with meteor shower that had the people in awe only to realize that it was actually rocket debris.
While the photos and videos of the supposed meteor shower circulated the social sites, one of the best video that was posted belong to the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum .
Sheikh Handan posted a video of the fireball passing through Dubai sky- shot by a security guard, on his Instagram with the heartfelt words “A mesmerizing footage through the eyes of a humble security guard named Ashraf Mohammed.”The Sheikh’s video amassed admiration by his followers.
On October 18, a flaming fireball was seen traveling through the UAE sky which Dubai Astronomy Group said was a space junk. In a tweet, the UAE Space Agency stated that an expired satellite was expected to enter the atmosphere at around 6.15pm, and there was a likelihood of it being seen from some Arab countries, including the UAE.
Hasan Al Hariri, CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group assured that the debris are planned guided reentries back into earth. “If there was any surviving debris, it would have fallen straight into the Indian Ocean, as planned,” Al Hariri said.
The impressive visuals, which are rarely seen in such clear circumstances, lasted approximately 80 seconds.
For astronomy enthusiasts two impressive meteor showers are expected to light up the skies in November and December.
