Villain : Mohanlal’s thriller breaks the record of ‘Great Father’

 

Mohanlal’s Villain was released in 270+ screens across Kerala. The emotional thriller ‘Villain’ is directed by B Unnikrishnan and produced by Rockline Venkatesh.

The all-India screen count of Villain is a massive 402 screens, which is a new record for a Malayalam film.The multi-starrer project earns good money from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi as well since it was released on Friday itself with no other biggies to compete against at the box office.

The opening shows of Villain started at 8:00 AM and all set to have a whopping 1300 shows on Friday.The film opened positive talk and another hit in Mohanlal Career. .

According to collection reports, the Mohanlal starrer has earned Rs 4.91 crores on its opening day in Kerala. This is the highest first day collection in Malayalam cinema industry right now.

Villain has broken the day 1 collection record of Mammootty’s The Great Father, which fetched 4.31 Crores in its opening day. Now, Villain is the top day 1 grossing Malayalam movie at the Kerala box office.

Critic reviews for the movie have mostly been mixed but the rush in theaters is still huge. B Unnikrishnan’s directional experience and the technical brilliance of the movie are the major plus points apart from Mohanlal’s stellar performance. Villain is quite a different thriller from what we get to see in Malayalam movies.

Villain marks the acting debut of Tamil stars Vishal and Hansika Motwani, and Telugu actors Srikant and Raashi Khanna in Mollywood. Manju Warrier stars opposite Mohanlal in the thriller, in which he plays Mathew Manjooran IPS.
