BSNL versus Reliance. The two well-known telephone communications are waging a war to raise their tariff by promoting and raising their bar on their data plans for their customers.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on 31st October launched its new offer for postpaid connections, dubbed ‘Loot Lo’. The state-run telco is giving up to 60 percent discount and 500 percent more data, and the offer is effective from Wednesday, November 1 on pan-India basis. These discounts come soon after Reliance Jio revised its plans to raise the tariff and reduce the validity of its postpaid plans.
The BSNL ‘’Loot Lo offer applies to seven postpaid plans, including Rs. 225, Rs. 325, Rs. 525, Rs. 725, Rs. 799, Rs. 1,125, and Rs. 1,525 that have free data usage of 500MB, 500MB, 3GB, 7GB, 15GB, 30GB, 60GB, and 90GB, respectively. The data usage comes without any speed restriction. However, BSNL currently has 3G network architecture over the widely available 4G connections.
“We are committed to providing affordable and efficient services to our customers,” said RK Mittal, Director (CM), BSNL Board, in a press statement.
In July, BSNL upgraded its postpaid plans by offering 250MB of data with the Plan 99 that had zero-data benefit previously. That announcement didn’t impact the subscribers enrolled under Plan 799, 1125 and 1525 that had data benefits of 10GB, 20GB and 30GB, respectively.
Earlier this month, Reliance Jio made the competition tougher for the market by updating its postpaid plans. The company is offering massive 1GB of data per day on its Rs. 309 plan, taking on the Rs. 325 plan of BSNL, whereas subscribers with extensive data demands are provided with the most expensive Jio plan of Rs. 999 that comes with 60GB of monthly data.
