A fire has destroyed a roastery in Ajman’s new industrial area on Tuesday, forcing an evacuation of nearby buildings, said emergency workers.
The roastery was completely burnt in the blaze, which took place on Tuesday morning, said Colonel Abdul Aziz Al Shamisi, Director of Ajman civil defence.
No casualties were reported.
Firefighters from the Ajman Civil Defence headquarters and industrial area stations controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading.
A rescue team evacuated nearby buildings to ensure workers’ safety, said Col. Al Shamisi.
Police blocked all roads leading to the warehouse, allowing firefighters and ambulance personnel to reach the area quicker, and help bring the flames under control sooner, he said.
The site will be handed over to the forensic expert after cooling operations are completed.
Forensic experts will be checking the site to determine what caused the blaze.
Meanwhile, Col. Al Shamisi appealed to owners of industrial facilities to maintain their firefighting systems and store materials properly.
