The survey predicts a comfortable victory for the BJP in Gujarat, while the remaining parties ride the tailcoats of the current ruling party.
BJP has won a third majority in the Gujarat assembly elections, predicted from a poll conducted by TimesNow. At the same time, the status of the Congress will be similar to the last elections. It is likely that there will be no major changes, the survey said. Previously, BJP’s victory was predicted in the INDIA TODAY and Axis poll.
According to Times Now-VVR survey, BJP is likely to get 118 to 134 seats and Congress will get 49 to 61 seats. The other party’s account can only have three seats. According to the survey, if the votes are considered, then 52 % votes will be given to BJP, 37 % for Congress and 11 % for other parties.
The survey is based on a sample size of 6,000 respondents spread across all regions of the state. The survey has a margin of error of plus, minus 3 %.
Times Now asked five broad questions to the respondents of the survey:
* Is the BJP’s Gujarat ‘Gaurav’ a winning slogan?
* Is Narendra Modi’s performance as Prime Minister a factor?
* Has Rahul Gandhi read the mood right?
* Can the BJP achieve mission-150?
* Who will win Gujarat polls?
The BJP tally, according to the survey, could better the 2012 results, as the party had won 115 seats with Narendra Modi as CM. Congress had won 61 seats in the 182-member House.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, reacting to the survey, believed that BJP would win more than 150 seats. Rupani gave an example of Uttar Pradesh. Nobody has ever thought that the BJP will get 325 seats in Uttar Pradesh. But the party won the big victory. In Gujarat, the same results will be taken. Rupani said that there is no resentment against the state government.
Gujarat’s support for PM Modi remains undiminished, with 81 % of the respondents saying they’ll continue to vote for the BJP, the survey said.
However, there is a noticeable drop in the BJP’s projected performance, when compared to its performance in the 2014 General Assembly elections. There is a noticeable drop in its vote share as well, from 60 % in 2014 to 52 % in 2017.
The Election Commission announced the dates for assembly election in Gujarat. The polling for the two-phase elections will take place on December 9 and 14, and votes will be counted on December 18.
