The Court sentenced a 48-year-old foreman to 15 years in jail for raping a Nepal citizen cleaning staff in a shopping center restroom. The Indian foreman was drunk while raping the 26-year-old cleaner. He forcefully grabbed her and slapped her.
The Court of Appeals found him guilty of charges of rape and consuming alcohol without a license, and ordered his deportation after serving his jail term. He had consumed three bottles of whiskey before attacking the woman.
The incident was reported on July 10, 2016, to the Bur Dubai police. She tried to get out but he stopped her and snatched her mobile phone. Before she could scream further, he pulled her violently into a changing room, covered her mouth with one hand and slapped her face several times. He then stripped and raped her.
When he heard people talking outside and about to enter the toilet, the man fled. The police arrived shortly later and took her to the hospital. Police arrested the suspect the day itself.
