The phrase ”Drown your sorrows in liquor” takes a new turn. Now you can pay away your trouble. But is that the case or is it just a political trick to fool the citizens.
A Shiv Sena MLA on Wednesday claimed that a senior BJP minister in Maharashtra had offered him Rs 5 crore to join the saffron party.
The BJP, however, termed the claim as “baseless”.
The Shiv Sena claimed that the BJP offered Rs. 5 crore offer to its (Shiv Sena) MLAs to switchover to the latter.
Shiv Sena MLA from Kannada in Aurangabad district, Harshvardhan Jadhav was offered Rs. 5 crore to join the BJP by Chandrakant Patil, senior BJP leader and minister for public works department. Jadhav, son in law of Raosaheb Danve, state president of BJP, said that BJP minister Patil offered him the amount if he swore allegiance to their party by joining the BJP.
“I went to meet Patil at his official resident opposite Mantralaya in Mumbai in the last week of October. I wanted to know why the state government is not allocating a member of legislative assembly (MLA) fund to repair and construct roads in my constituency,” said Jadhav. He added that instead of replying to his grievances, Patil offered him the prospect of leaving the Sena and joining the BJP.
“Chandrakant Dada told me that that the BJP is upset and fed up with the constant bickering by the Shiv Sena. Each MLA has been offered Rs. 5 crore, a (BJP) nomination in the by-elections. They were asked to join the BJP so that it can ditch the Shiv Sena. The same offer was made to me…they also told me that they would get us elected in the by-elections,” Jadhav claimed.
Jadhav was assured that the BJP would take care of him and make him a member of the Upper House and added that he would never quit the Sena.
“BJP ministers, leaders and the chief minister keep saying that they will run the government even if the Sena pulls out. How are you going to run the government?” Mr. Raut asked.
“From where does such a large amount come? You don’t have money for farmers’ loan waiver and for development work, but you are ready to buy MLAs for Rs. 5 crores,” Mr. Raut said.
BJP MPs and legislators keep making false allegations against the top leaders of Sena and seek a probe by the investigating agencies, he said.
Now, in this case, will a letter be sent to ED, CBI, and ACB for an independent inquiry? The money you (BJP) have is black money. This should be probed, “Mr. Raut said.
Meanwhile, the BJP accused the Sena MLA of indulging in a farce.
“All these are baseless charges. BJP does not need to do such things…Compared to Jadhav, Patil enjoys the trust of people of Maharashtra,” state BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said.
“What Jadhav has claimed is a nautanki (farce),” he said.
Asked if defamation proceedings will be initiated against Jadhav, the BJP spokesperson said, “Definitely. We will consider this.”
