MOHALI: A seven-year-old boy died after a wooden almirah fell on him in a classroom in a private school in Derabassi on Friday.The victim has been identified as Viki Pandit, a student of Class III.The incident took place when the staff was moving the children out of their class to attend a Mohali police function related to Saanjh Kendra on community disputes, citizens’ rights and other issues at the school playground. Sources said Viki was last in the queue. Sources said some of the students while moving out pushed the almirah that suddenly fell on Viki, causing head injuries.The school authorities took the child to the civil hospital, Derabassi, where doctors declared him brought dead, As Reported By TOI.
According to the Newspaper, However, family members claimed Viki was breathing. “My kid was alive at Derabassi civil hospital, but they kept him in the mortuary,” alleged Ram Pandit, father of Viki.”The hospital administration at Derabassi did not examine my brother at all,” said Govind Pandit, the elder brother of Viki who also studies in the same school in Class X and rushed to his brother’s classroom on hearing about the incident. The family then took the child to a private hospital, which too declared him brought dead.Ram Pandit, father of Viki, said, “My brother and other relatives are coming on Saturday.
