Roughly a month back the setup behind the curator of the Pune stadium was discovered revealing the corruption that was present on the sports team.
Corruption has reared its ugly head again at the Sports Authority of India (SAI). In an incident which sent the entire top brass of SAI in a tizzy, a sealed packet, containing Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 denomination of currency notes, allegedly landed at its doorsteps on Thursday afternoon, leading to the termination of the employment of a woman staff.
The packet, which sources said had around Rs 1.5-2 lakhs, reached the office of SAI’s equipment division, with a list of names inside it. Sources alleged the packet was meant for the suspended woman employee, who was working on contractual basis in SAI, and the cash was to be distributed among the names mentioned in the list. The episode came to light because the packet was ‘mistakenly’ delivered to another female staff.
An internal inquiry has been launched by the SAI. SAI’s Deputy Director General (DDG), Sanjeev Pradhan has been in Gandhinagar in Gujarat on an official tour.
