The horrifying clip begins showing the toddler rolling around in her bed crying, before the babysitter appears.
She appears to strike the tot while shaking her violently in the horrific video, slapping the eight-week-old girl on her head, face, back and bottom while her parents were out.
The 51-year-old was arrested in the city of Phy Ly in northern Vietnam after the child’s parents discovered the footage.
Ngoc Phuong, the baby’s shocked mother, contacted police, who moved quickly to arrest the nanny.
She had only been working for the family for two months – but was caught after the baby’s parents installed hidden CCTV inside the tot’s bedroom.
Ms Phuong had noticed the baby’s face was unusually red and she often sobbed in her sleep.
Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Tung, chief of police in Phu Ly, confirmed that the suspect was in police custody.
Up to 4,000 Vietnamese children are believed to suffer from abuse or maltreatment every year, according to the humanitarian organisation World Vision Vietnam.
Babysitters are often reported for abusing young children in Vietnam but criminal charges are rarely brought against the culprits.
