There are so many complaints against small traders to big shopping malls, restaurants and even multiplexes alleging they have been charging GST on MRP, non GST items and even selling at a higher price claiming GST.
Consumers have complained about shopkeepers and dealers charging additional rates in the name of GST on daily need items like mineral water, grains, milk, vegetables, eggs that are on the exemption list.
The GST Council slashed the GST rate on restaurants to a uniform 5 per cent from over 12 per cent earlier, but many restaurants reportedly continue to overcharge diners.
Here’s some important informations to deal with GST looters:
1. Ask for Orginal tax bill after your purchase.
2. Always know the tax rate of daily used/purchasing products.
3. There are four tax rates – 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%,no taxes products also available in the market.
4. The GST will be categorized into two,SGST and CGST. because center and state governments are divided equally. If Tax is 12%, SGST 6% and CGST 6%.
5. Most products have 18 percent and less GST. So if taxes are imposed on 28% , Then please check whether the rate is correct or not.
6.If you have a smartphone, you can check your tax rates on the Internet.
7.If you Keep the news and advertising about the new tax rate,it is easy to find the fraud.
8.If you notice that extra tax is impossed on your purchase, you can approach consumer dispute settlement or GST deputy commissioners.

10.Even if the actual tax amount not been cut. You can forward a complaint to the State GST Screening Committee,they will check the complaint and to be forwarded to Central Anti-Corruption Commission.
