After the impressive victory in at least 14 out of 16 mayoral seats in Uttar Pradesh’s local body elections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attacked Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for the party’s poor showing in the election.
Addressing a press conference at BJP’s headquarters in Lucknow, the CM said: “The result should open the eyes of those who are saying big things in Gujarat. Not only did they fail to open their account in this election, they also lost Amethi,” he said.
Yogi gave the credit for his party’s performance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “vision for development” and Amit Shah’s leadership.
We were unable to perform well in the corporation in the past because the state government was of a different party. We went to people in this election and told them that BJP was in the center and state as well and we would be able to work properly this time.
Yogi added that now the party would work towards getting a 100% result in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
