The body of Sangeeta Devi was found in a room of a hotel in Kadamkuan locality on Friday evening. Her throat was slit open and it prima facie appeared that a sharp-edged weapon was used to commit the crime. The woman, in her 40s, had been staying in room number 405 of Apsara Hotel since November 13.
Kadamkuan SHO Ranjit Kumar Singh said the man who was staying with the woman is absconding. Police also recovered a medical prescription of a patient named Geeta Devi of Gopalganj. “The prescription shows the woman was undergoing treatment for certain neurological disorder in Ranchi,” the SHO said.
Police sources said that her husband Ram Babu Chaudhary of Mahendru locality had booked the hotel room on the ID of a driver named Bhanu. A note allegedly written by Chaudhary was found in the room.
Police were checking the CCTV footage of the hotel to track the man who had been staying with her.
