‘The Dark Knight’s’ Joker to be honored at G’Day USA Gala.

Acting legend Heath Ledger will be honored at the annual G’Day USA Gala in Los Angeles next month.
January marks 10 years since Ledger’s untimely death at the age of 28. The announcement was made at the official launch of the G’Day USA at the MCA at Circular Quay by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.
Ledger died on 22 January 2008 from an accidental intoxication from prescription drugs. A few months before his death, Ledger had finished filming his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight. His untimely death cast a shadow over the subsequent promotion of the $185 million Batman production.

Heath began his acting career in the early 90s in TV roles and soon became a household name thanks to starring in 10 Things I Hate About You. He went on to appear in 19 films, including Candy, Brokeback Mountain, and A Knight’s Tale. One of his iconic last movies was The Dark Knight, where he played The Joker. Since his untimely death, he has also been honored by Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, AFI (Australian Film Institute) and received an Oscars.
During the announcement at MCA at Circular Quay, Minister Julie Bishop also revealed other award recipients. Margot Robbie and Gone Girl and Big Little Lie producer Bruna Papandrea will also be honored during the gala. X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace was also hand-selected to perform at this year’s gala.
