With the heat of the Gujarat election upon the people, will there be any last minute cheap trick played? Maybe. Here are the details of such an event

Merely a day before voting in Gujarat, the head priest of Swaminarayan Sect, Swami Bhaktiprasad was attacked by two unidentified assailants in Kotda village on Thursday night. The priest was reportedly campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirti Patel near Visavdar area in Junagadh district of the poll-bound state when the incident took place.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Junagadh and his condition is stated to be stable now. The priest has alleged that the attack was carried by Opposition workers as the car of miscreants with number plate GJ 1 A 9666 has Congress party’s scarf tied on the front.

The Congress has denied the assault on the priest.

The campaign for the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections ended on Thursday. Of the total 182 assembly segments in the state, 89 seats will go to poll in the first phase to be held tomorrow and the remaining 93 segments will go to poll in the second phase on December 14. The result of the election will be announced on December 18 along with that of Himachal Pradesh.
