The suspects behind the shocking episode happened in the national capital were arrested in Delhi. The Delhi Commission for Women activist was paraded naked by a mob for her tirade against illegal liquor trade in her colony.
Identified as Praveen, the woman on Thursday alleged that she was attacked by a huge mob who beat her with irons rods and store and clothes. 30-year-old Praveen is a resident of Narela’s JJ cluster.
The Women’s Commission volunteer was a part of the patrol party to identify illegal liquor shops in her area. On Thursday night a group of people thrashed her and paraded naked in her colony for helping police to stop liquor trade.
Responding to the incident she said in a video that she was dragged and stripped. I only protested against the open sale of illegal liquor and they punished me.
The Delhi Commission for Women has said the woman volunteer has “marks of iron rods on her body,” and strongly condemned the attack on her and blamed the police for the illegal liquor trade. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who visited the woman in a government hospital Friday, described the incident as “shocking and shameful.”
