16-Year-old boy kills mother and sister with pizza cutter
A 16-year-old boy, missing since the murder of his mother and sister near Delhi earlier this week, was picked up from Varanasi on Tuesday night and has confessed to killing them with scissors and a pizza cutter because he was scolded and beaten up at home, a senior police officer said.
The juvenile, who was the prime suspect in the double murder, was detained last night from Mughalsarai near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh from where he had called his father, police said. The father had appealed to him to “come home and he should not be afraid. He should come and tell the truth.”
The 42-year-old mother and her daughter, 11, were found murdered in their apartment in Gaur City in Greater Noida on Tuesday. The teen, according to the police, attacked his mother and sister with a bat and then used a pair of scissors and a pizza cutter to kill them. The mother had seven stab wounds on her head and her daughter had five.
The teenager was seen in CCTV footage entering the flat around 8 pm on Monday with his mother and sister. He was next seen leaving alone around 11:30 pm, calm and deep into his mobile phone. The police also found his bloodstained clothes in a bathroom of their home.
The teen’s father is a businessman and was away in Surat when the murders took place. The suspect’s grandparents, who lived with them, were also out of town. The father also told the police that Rs. 2 lakh is missing from the flat.
According to police, the boy was weak in studies and used to get scolded over his poor performance. On the day of incident too, his mother had scolded him over studies.
The police had earlier suspected that a violent video game could have led to the crime. The teen, police said, was addicted to “Gangster In High School”, a video game that dares players to kill and get away with it. The game was found on the boy’s phone and other similar electronic devices in the house.
