A 14-year-old girl confessed her crucial part in a mass brawl happened at a school in Middlesbrough. Another 14-year-old boy pulled her victim to the ground and punched her several times.
The youngster pleaded guilty to assault by beating following the incident. Police launched an investigation into the fight after shocking footage of the scene was being circulated on social media.
The court heard the victim a 16-year-old, she explained the incident as the girl had arranged a fight between her friend and another girl, but that the defendant became involved. When the victim told the defendant that the fight had become unfair, a verbal argument broke out between them, causing the defendant to lash out, the court heard.
In an impact statement read to the court, the victim said: “I feel angry that I was assaulted as I couldn’t defend myself, I was grabbed from behind and I did not want to fight.
The court heard that the defendant had no previous convictions and that no serious injuries were caused to the victim. Magistrates made a youth referral order against the defendant and ordered £20 costs.
