Gujarat Polls 2017: Rahul Gandhi greeted with chants of ‘Modi, Modi’ during his temple visit

Ahead of the second phase of Gujarat assembly elections, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday continued his campaign trail and his visits to temples.

However, during one of his temple visits, Rahul Gandhi rather had an awkward moment when the crowd started chanting ‘Modi Modi’.The Congress Vice President can be seen smiling and leaving the Shree Rancchoji temple at Dakor in Kheda district when some individuals gathered outside the temple and started raising slogans in support of PM Modi.

The elections in Gujarat are a litmus test for the Gandhi scion who is leading the charge of the campaign in the state. It also comes ahead of his elevation as Congress President.

The recent temple visits by Rahul Gandhi at the time of Gujarat elections has been in the midst of various public debates in political circles and social media. He has been criticised by BJP for his obvious and ‘sham’ temple visits. Earlier during the day, BJP president Amit Shah slammed Rahul Gandhi for ‘hopping from temple to temple’ and spreading casteism in the country.
