“Don is Don,” wrote a man widely reported to be the BJP’s vice-president in Jammu and Kashmir, as he posted a picture of himself holding an assault rifle on social media.
But the party’s state president has said Ashish Sareen isn’t a BJP member.
In fact, he isn’t “associated with any party,” BJP Jammu and Kashmir president Satpal Sharma said.
Sharma said the photo had been clicked during “election time.”
Many national leaders have pics with guns, I am still a local leader. It was not with any wrong intention, I still apologize for it. It was uploaded by my brother from my phone: Ashish Sareen,J&K BJP leader who was photographed with an AK-47 pic.twitter.com/hJeLcdPVUA

Sareen has apologized for the picture, which he said was uploaded by his brother – but from his phone.
He seemed to defend himself, saying that many national leaders had pictures with guns – and that he was only a local leader.
