Pakistan Supreme Court against Govt authorities for having no idols in Hindu temples
Pakistan’s top court has expressed anger that their government has failed to ensure the presence of idols in Hindu temples in Punjab province.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that the administration was neglecting the historic temples, which are visited by the Hindu community from across the world.
According to a report in The Express Tribune, the apex court asked the government what impression the world would have of Pakistan if there are no idols in the temples.
Notably, the court made these comments in an Islamic country; idolatry is a sin in Islam.
Pakistan’s Supreme Court made these observations during a hearing they initiated of their own accord on the reasons for a pond drying up at the famous Katas Raj Temples in a place called Chakwal.
The pond is believed to have been created from the tears of Shiva and is regarded as sacred by Hindus. The report says the pond is drying up because of groundwater depletion, no thanks to the area’s cement factories.
