During this smartphone era, various companies trying to impress the public with different and various features in the smartphone but some experiments became a failure or some were become failed due to lack of features. The year 2017 saw launches of various smartphones with new innovations in terms of display, camera, and other features. Many of the smartphones really impressed the customers; however, there were some that didn’t live up to the expectations. So, here is a list of seven smartphones, that failed to impress us this year
Sony Experia XA1 ultra
Sony also launched various smartphones under its Xperia series this year. However, some smartphones didn’t turn out to be that impressive and one such device is the Xperia XA1 Ultra. The smartphone is quite costly and lacks some of the basic features which are present even in sub 10K smartphones. The smartphone offers good camera capabilities but an average processor and absence of a fingerprint sensor made it not worth the money. It comes with a 6-inch full HD display, MediaTek Helio P20 processor, 23MP rear camera and 2700mAh battery with fast charging support.
Blackberry keyone
BlackBerry is trying really hard to garner the attention of people along with some market share in the Indian smartphone market. The company also ditched its own operating system and opted for Android. The company launched its latest smartphone BlackBerry KEYone in India this year, which also failed to create any buzz in the market. The smartphone comes with a hefty price tag of Rs 39,999 but offers mediocre specifications.
MI MIX2
Xiaomi has a strong foothold in the Indian smartphone market when it comes to budget segment smartphones. The company is still not able to get the same traction in the above 30K price segment. The company launched its first bezel-less smartphone Mi Mix 2 in India at Rs 35,999.
The smartphone has not seen many takers as it was recently available at a temporary price cut of Rs 2,000. Moreover, the last year launched Mi 5 also has the same fate. This shows that Xiaomi still has to work a lot to stabilize itself in this price segment. The device comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 6GB of RAM. It offers 5.99-inch full-screen display, 12MP rear camera, and 3400mAh battery.
Asus Zenfone AR
Asus Zenfone AR is the world’s first smartphone to come with both AR and VR support. Despite these features and high-end specifications, the smartphone was not able to impress the customers. The smartphone also failed to garner attention in the Indian smartphone market as both AR and VR are not a hot trend in the country.
Running Android 7.0 Nougat, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM. The smartphone features a 5.7-inch display, 23MP rear camera, and 3300mAh battery.
LG G6
After the failure of LG’s modular smartphone LG G5, the company focused all its attention on LG G6. The smartphone is the company’s first to come with a Full Vision display. Along with this, it also offers some really good and high-end specifications. But, just like its predecessor this one also failed to impress the customers. Since its launch, the smartphone received three price cuts and still found few takers.
The smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch Full Vision display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. It comes with 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and 3300mAh battery.
Vivo V7+
Vivo launched its flagship smartphone Vivo V7+ in India this year. However, soon after the launch, the company faced a lot of flak in regards to a smartphone. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, the Vivo V7+ claims to offer 24MP selfie camera. However, according to Qualcomm, this processor is not capable of offering a front camera with this high pixel count.
The company then claimed that they have done some software improvements to take the pixel count to 24MP. This turned out to be turn off for many. Running Android 7.1 Nougat the device sports a 5.99-inch full-screen display. It packs 3225mAh battery, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage.
HTC U Ultra
Earlier this year, HTC launched its U Ultra smartphone along with the U Play. Since its launch, the smartphone failed to create a buzz. The smartphone was launched a hefty price tag of Rs 52,999 and also didn’t offer anything extra.
Seeing the poor response, the company also gave it a massive price cut of Rs 22,991. The smartphone comes with 5.7-inch QHD LCD display, there is also a 2-inch screen on top. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. It houses a 3000mAh battery and 12-UltraPixel rear camera.
