To do something for one’s land is a great feeling. And to achieve it one must go to great lengths, be it failing many times or facing disappointment.
P C Baranda, who resigned as an IPS officer to contest assembly polls from Bhiloda, has blamed the local BJP cadres for his defeat.
Baranda had a forgettable electoral debut as he lost to Congress veteran Anil Joshiyara from the tribal-dominated seat Bhiloda, Gujarat seat by 12,417 votes.
Talking to TOI, Baranda said, “Five BJP members, including two women, worked to ensure my defeat.”
Baranda, who is a native of Wanaka Timba village in Bhiloda taluka, has submitted a complaint to Aravalli district BJP president Ranbirsinh Dabhi against them. He has named Hasmukh Madia and his wife Meera, both from Bhiloda, Raju Ninama from Odd village, Jayavantikaben Damor from Meghraj and Balwant Bhoi from Panchal village near Meghraj in his complaint.
Baranda alleged that these five had sought tickets to contest polls but the BJP denied them and chose him. “They harbored a grudge against me and actually canvassed for the Congress candidate. This swung a large number of votes in Joshiyara’s favor,” he said.
When contacted, Dabhi said, “I have received Baranda’s complaint and forwarded it to the state BJP president for further action.”
