Former UP minister Badshah Singh’s son was caught by the UP police for kidnapping Shivam alias Yashraj, the son of Chinhat based businessman Amit Jawal on Saturday from Janeshwar Mishra Park in Gomatinagar. The police caught the culprits from Mahoba.
The culprits were planning to demand Rs 50 lakhs for the release of Shivam who is a ninth standard Student. According to police, the culprit was in contact with Shivam for over five months via Facebook.Soon, Suryadev (20) began meeting Shivam frequently.
On Friday, Shivam had to borrow Rs 30,000 from Suryadev and the duo decided to meet near Janehwar Mishra Park on Saturday morning.
However, after Shivam got into Suryadev’s car, he sped towards Shaheed Path.
He also snatched Shivam’s phone and gagged him. Suryadev stopped only in his native village in Kharela, Mahoba (almost 250km from the city), in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal, a realtor, informed police that his son was missing.
A manhunt was launched and through surveillance, it was known that Shivam and Suryadev had headed to Mahoba. Police raided Singh’s family home and recovered the boy. Suryadev, along with accomplices Rajesh Singh and Prabal Singh, was arrested.
SSP Deepak Kumar said Suryadev had planned to demand a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.
“The team which cracked the case within 24 hours will be given a cash reward,” said Kumar.
Named in the LACCFED scam, Badshah Singh has been to jail on charges of corruption.
Initially, in BJP, the four-time MLA defected to BSP and became a minister in Mayawati’s regime before switching sides to BJP again. He moved to Congress party in 2016.
