A Rajkot based commission agent named Raju has been arrested in the 50.2 kg smuggling case. The arrest was done by The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. He is not the first person to be arrested for this case. Earlier, Milan Patel who is the main accused and his brother Gautam were also arrested.
Milan Patel, who ran a jewellery shop in Dubai, would fly down to Rajkot and sell the smuggled gold to jewellers in Rajkot, Ahmedabad, and Jamnagar with the help of Raju. Payment was directly made to Milan in Dubai through the hawala route and gold would be handed over after confirming receipt of payment.
According to sources, the duo has already smuggled 350 kg gold over the last six months. Both have been remanded in judicial custody till January 5.
