Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday stepped up the attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over Union minister Ananthkumar Hegde’s remarks about the Constitution, saying it is “distressing” to see the country’s foundation under threat both directly and surreptitiously.
Addressing the members of the party at the 133rd foundation day of the Congress party, the Congress president accused senior BJP leaders of tampering with the country’s constitution in a clandestine manner.
“What is happening today in our country is a web of deceit, The BJP operates on the basic idea that lies can be used for political benefit and it is the difference b/w us & them, we might not do well, we might even lose but we will not give up the truth,” he added.
