A Maryland man and his ex-girlfriend jailed after a wild fight broke out between the man, his new flame, and his ex, according to police.
John Sebastian Lopez, 20, was arrested Monday on attempted murder charges after an altercation at his ex-girlfriend Rhyen Gaulden’s home in Odenton, the Capital Gazette reported.
Police said Lopez and his 25-year-old girlfriend — who was not named — went to the house with the intention of starting a fight with his 17-year-old ex.
Upon arriving, the pair reportedly banged on the Gaulden’s windows until she came outside.
Gaulden claimed she went to confront them, and the girlfriend allegedly started punching the teen. Gaulden told officers she sprayed the woman with mace, but the woman continued to attack, the Capital Gazette reported.
While fighting, Gaulden reportedly pulled a knife on the girlfriend and stabbed her in the back.
Police said Lopez then took out a handgun and shot Gaulden in the thigh.
Lopez and his girlfriend fled the scene but later arrived at Laurel Regional Hospital, police said.
At the hospital, Lopez was arrested on attempted murder and assault charges.
The woman denied she attacked the teen when questioned by investigators. She claimed Gaulden attacked her with mace while they were talking and then stabbed her in the back when she turned around. The girlfriend has not been charged, according to the Capital Gazette report.
Gaulden was taken from the scene to another local hospital, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
She was also arrested for multiple offenses, including attempted murder and assault
