The Islamabad Police filed a complaint against an unidentified person they strongly believe to be an Indian, for making frequent phone calls to their control room and asking them to raise ‘Jai Hind’ slogans, reported Pakistan’s The Express Tribune.
The caller reportedly flooded the phone-lines of the Islamabad Police control room on December 25 and demanded he be put on the phone with senior police officials. He allegedly even issued threats to the officers who took his call.
Initially, the cops couldn’t ascertain the nationality of the caller through his language, but they were offended by him constantly saying ‘Jai Hind’ and therefore assumed he is Indian.
Later, the caller claimed that he was speaking from India and that his name was “Zashe”, said the Tribune.
“The calls started coming in around 3:30 in the morning. The caller wanted to speak to the Inspector General of Police and the Deputy Inspector General. When his requests were turned-down, he intimidated us with objectionable language”, said sub-inspector Shabbir Ahmed, who was deployed in the control room.
“He told us to raise ‘Jai Hind’ slogans,” Ahmed added.
As the caller line identification of the control room was dysfunctional, the officers-in-charge had to take help from the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) to trace the caller’s number. PTCL reportedly confirmed that the calls were coming from India.
