Vidarbha made a dream start against Delhi in Ranji trophy final as they were able to get 3 wickets against 89 runs before match stopped for lunch. Taking on a strong Delhi side, Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal first won the toss and elected to field first.
In a smart captaincy move, Fazal decided to give the first over to debutant fast bowler Aditya Thakare, rather than giving it to in-form Rajneesh Gurbani. Thakare repaid captain’s faith by getting the wicket of opener Kundal Chandela out for a duck in the first over itself.
A beautiful outswinger just knicked Chandela’s bat and the ball went straight to Fazal at slips. Dhruv Shorey and Gautam Gambhir settled Delhi for a time before Fazal gave the bowl to spinner Akshay Wakhare. The leg-spinner got the big wicket of Gambhir in his very first over with a flighted delivery that just kept going inside and wrapped on his pad before hitting on to stumps.
Nitish Rana settled the innings with Dhruv Shorey but soon gave away his wicket to Thakare who got his second of the match. Captain Rishabh Pant ensured Delhi do not lose any more wicket before Lunch. Delhi reach 89/3 at Lunch
