They treated me like a murder convict: student arrested in Parvathy troll case

The Kerala police had arrested Printo Chittilapally, a college student, after award winning actress Parvathy filed a complaint that she was abused and viciously trolled on social media for criticizing some dialogues in Mammootty-starrer Kasaba as ‘misogynistic’.
The youngster said that on Wednesday at around 3 am, when he was asleep, a police battalion surrounded his house before storming in and arresting him.

Printo says, “I just posted my personal opinion. I am not a member of the Mammootty fans association but just an admirer of the actor. I couldn’t tolerate what was said about Mammootty, so I responded. My comment was not obscene in any way and I reacted just like any ordinary person.

But they made it look improper. I didn’t make any obscene comments against actress Parvathy. All I did was write my personal opinion as a comment. The rest has been fabricated to trap me. Four people had literally abducted me in the wee hours after creating a terror scene at my house. They dragged me as if I were an accused wanted in a murder case,” Printo said.

He said that he was remanded as there was nobody to stand in as guarantors. Had the court not granted him bail he would have been lodged in a jail for more days.

Printo said that many people who supported Parvathy had posted vulgar comments against him below his post. “They don’t care whether people have abused me. The police are arresting only those who posted comments against Parvathy,” said the youngster.

Meanwhile, Printo’s counsel Jiyas Jamal said that Printo had been granted bail as the court couldn’t find anything obscene in the comment posted by the youngster.

Jiyas Jamal said, “The common people in Kerala are giving a countless number of complaints to the police about cyber bullying, insulting women, or about defaming women on social media after creating fake IDs. The police seldom take any action in these cases saying that it is extremely difficult to find out the perpetrators of these crimes because the offenders are using Facebook and Twitter. Printo is out on bail now. The court granted him bail because there is nothing obscene in Printo’s comments.”
