WhatsApp stops working on these smartphone : Check your status

WhatsApp has stopped working for a number of smartphone users.

Late last month, the company announced this via a blog post on its official website. “These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.

If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer OS version, or to a newer Android running OS 4.0+, iPhone running iOS 7+, or Windows Phone 8.1+ so that you can continue using WhatsApp,” the company said in a blog post.

BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10

Users with smartphones running BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 and older platforms will not be able to use WhatsApp this year.

WhatsApp’s ended support for these platforms on December 31, 2017.

Windows Phone 8.0

Users with smartphones running Windows Phone 8.0 will not be able to use WhatsApp this year.

WhatsApp ended support for this Microsoft’s mobile platform on December 31, 2017. The messaging app also does not support Windows Phone 7.

Nokia S40 until December 31, 2018

Another mobile platform that WhatsApp stopped supporting from December 31, 2017 is Nokia S40.

Android Gingerbread after February 1, 2020

Users of Android versions 2.3.7 (Android Gingerbread) still have over two years of WhatsApp support.

The Facebook-owned company has announced that it will stop supporting the device after February 1, 2020.

  • WhatsApp stopped supporting devices running Nokia Symbian S60 in June 2016
  • WhatsApp has also ended support for iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
  • WhatsApp updates were stopped for Android 2.1, Android 2.2 in December 2016
  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
