A short film that puts an extramarital affair in a different light has created waves on social media.
‘Chhuri’, directed by Mansi Jain, is a warning for flirtatious men who believe they could have their way by ignoring or intimidating their wives. The film also addresses the women who turn a blind eye to the wayward journeys of their men for the sake of their children.
The protagonist of the film is an ordinary housewife who quietly exposes her husband and his lover without creating any commotion. Interestingly, there is no washing of the dirty linen in public.
The movie, which features Anurag Kashyap, Tisca Chopra, and Surveen Chawla, is a warning that the secret pleasures of an affair may be a betrayal in disguise.
The protagonist played by Chopra is forever at the receiving end. Even the children blame her for the family problems, which are essentially the result of her husband’s extramarital affair. The children direct their anger towards the mother. Yet she takes it all in quietly and silently.
She knows very well where her husband goes to when he is supposed to be in office. She joins him and his lover with a definite plan. There is no dramatic outburst involved though.
She deals with the situation with her intellect rather than emotions. She acts valiantly in situations in which a woman loses temper. She manipulates the other woman and makes her put an end to the affair. Then she returns home with a knowing smile.
