Don’t marry bank employees, says new fatwa

Citing that Bank revenue is considered forbidden in Islam, religious body Darool Uloom Deoband has issued a Fatwa that asking Muslim women to not marry into a family whose members work in banks, said reports.

Many a time so many scholars have come up with such bizarre Fatwas, but one thing about these Fatwas are that they are simply scholarly opinions and one is not bound to follow them strictly.

One other hand many good Fatwas have also issued by them, just like the prohibition on Narcotics and Alcohol for the larger good of society.

The logic behind this particular Fatwa prohibiting marriage with bank employees is that earnings through interest and any transaction involving interest, particularly investment, is forbidden in Islam, the report said.

‘Darul Uloom Deoband is correct in its decision. One should avoid having any social bonds with such a person because everything including his lifestyle would be connected with ‘haraam’, and then it would be harmful to the person religiously, socially as well as individually,’ Majlis Ittehad-e-Millat General Secretary Other Osmani said.

In Islam one is not allowed to earn money which he doesn’t deserve, thus prohibits interest in any form.
