Leica CL to beat all the SLR histories

Leica has unveiled a new mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (ILC) called the Leica CL. Featuring a classic design, the camera boasts of many modern features like a large APS-C sensor, 4K video recording and fast burst shooting of up to 10fps. The camera will be launching by the end of November. The Leica CL body in black anodised finish is priced at $2,795 (roughly Rs. 1,90,000), while the kit with the new Prime lens (Elmarit-TL 18 mm f/2.8) will cost you $3,795 (roughly Rs. 2,58,000) and the Vario kit (with the new Vario-Elmar-TL 18-56 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens) will set you back $3,995 (roughly Rs. 2,71,700).

The Leica CL packs in a 24-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and is powered by Leica’s Maestro II series image processor. Some of the key specifications include an ISO range of 100-50000, RAW file support, 49 autofocus points, 10fps burst shooting and choice of manual and scene shooting modes. The CL also has a fixed 3-inch touchscreen display and a built-in electronic viewfinder with a 2.36 million dot resolution. You also get a built-in Wi-Fi module for sharing pictures directly through your smartphone, via the Android and iOS app. With the help of the L-Bayonet mount, SL-lenses can also be used without an adapter on the CL.

Leica has also announced a new lens called the Elmarit-TL 18 mm f/2.8 ASPH, which currently holds the title of being the smallest wide-angle APS-C pancake lens in the market. In addition to this lens, the selection of lenses currently includes three zoom lenses, which are the Super-Vario-Elmar-TL 11-23 mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH, Vario-Elmar-TL 18-56 mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH and the APO-Vario-Elmar-TL 55-135 mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH. Leica also has three prime lenses which includes the Summicron-TL 23 mm f/2 ASPH, Summilux-TL 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH and the APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60 mm f/2.8 ASPH.
