Country’s elite force NSG experts begun examination of explosives recovered in Kerala

Experts from the National Security Guard (NSG), the country’s elite special forces unit under the Union Ministry of Home, have begun the examination of the explosives recovered from a railway bridge in Kuttippuram on Thursday.

The officers were at the Armed Reserve Police Camp in Padinjattumuri on Saturday morning. The bombs will be defused after experts from other armed forces complete examining the cache.

Some five metal containers with the suspected explosive substance, two metal parts and six gunny bags were found scattered on the sandbanks beneath the bridge across the Bharathapuzha.

The containers had the wordings ‘FRONT TOWARD ENEMY.’

The police said the objects looked like landmines and the gunny bags were in military green colour.

Some local people tipped the police about the presence of the objects under the bridge Thursday evening. Following this, the bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and took possession of the objects.
