There have been a lot of rumors going around that Government is planning to put an end to free banking services from January 20th.

But now the government has come forward and clarified that government is not considering any such proposals and not to believe in rumors.

Financial Services Secretary Rajeev Kumar on Wednesday said “No proposal by banks to discontinue free services from 20th January. Pure Rumours. Pl Ignore, advises Indian Banking Association clarifying that rumors in a section of social media are baseless and no such blanket removal.”
Indian Banks Association also released a statement clarifying that no such proposals of removing the free services are being entertained at the moment.
However, banks looking at its commercial and operational costs would constantly examine and revise charges as the case may be.
