There have been many reports that WhatsApp is not working for many users in India and it all started on January 13 morning, the users woke up to an error message that said: “This version of WhatsApp became obsolete on 13 Jan 2018.
Please go to the Google Play Store to download the latest version.”After this, users didn’t get an option to revive the app or even re-download.
After which users out busted their frustration on micro-blogging site Twitter. Many users had an error on their app screen that claimed that they could not use WhatsApp as it had become obsolete on their devices.
As per Firstpost, the “obsolete error” has largely affected on Xiaomi smartphones, however, a similar problem had occurred last week.

If you’re one such user and still facing the “obsolete” error on your smartphone, then you don’t need to uninstall the chat app.
Here’re the steps to solve the issue without uninstalling the app or losing the data.
To fix this issue, you must enable the ‘Allow installation of apps from unknown sources’ option from Settings on your device.
Now you need to visit WhatsApp.com/android to download the latest version of the chat app that will redirect you to Google Play Store.
After this, your WhatsApp will be updated without requiring to uninstall the app or losing your personal data.
