Honor launches ‘Honor 9 Lite’ with Quad Cameras in India

Honor 9 Lite, the second quad-camera smartphone from Huawei brand Honor, was launched in India on Wednesday at an event in New Delhi.

The Honor 9 Lite will go on sale on January 21, exclusively via Flipkart. Apart from having dual camera setups on both the front and back, the other major USP of the Honor 9 Lite is that it runs the company’s latest EMUI 8.0, based on Android 8.0 Oreo.

Honor 9 Lite price in India

The Honor 9 Lite price in India starts at Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM/ 64GB variant, on the other hand, is priced at Rs. 14,999. Both variants will go on sale exclusively via Flipkart and the Honor India Store in flash sales. The first flash sale will be on 12am IST (midnight) on January 21, followed by the second at 12pm (noon) IST the same day.

Honor 9 Lite specifications

The Honor 9 Lite is a dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone. It runs the company’s latest EMUI 8.0, based on Android 8.0 Oreo, out of the box. The new handset sports a 5.65-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 428ppi pixel density. The Honor 9 Lite is powered by the octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC and comes in 3GB or 4GB of RAM variants.

The Honor 9 Lite has four cameras. Both sets of dual cameras feature a 13-megapixel primary camera with a 2-megapixel secondary camera. Also, the camera at the back has LED flash and PDAF autofocus.

In terms of storage, the Honor 9 Lite comes with two storage options – 32GB and 64GB – both of which are expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration. When it comes to connectivity, the smartphone features Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 4G VoLTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG support, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The sensors on the handset include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, magnetometer (digital compass), and proximity sensor.

The Honor 9 Lite is fuelled by a 3000mAh battery. The company says it can provide a talk time of up to 20 hours on 3G and a standby time of up to 24 days. The handset charges entirely in roughly 2 hours 20 minutes, the company said. In terms of dimensions, the Honor 9 Lite measures 151×71.9×7.6mm and weighs 149 grams.
