Congress sharpens attack on Modi government over Pakistan’s ceasefire violations

Sharpening their attack on Prime minister Modi, Congress asked whether the central government is sleeping while so many civilians and army personnel are losing their lives in Kashmir as a result of recurrent ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

“Ceasefire violations have gone up by 500 percent in 44 months. Over 303 military personnel and 193 civilians have died in Jammu and Kashmir. Today again two civilians died and four (were) injured… Saheb (Prime Minister Narendra Modi), when will our government wake up?” Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala asked in a tweet.

MLA hails Kashmir militants killed by Indian forces as martyrs and brothers

Surjewala’s remarks came after two civilians were killed in heavy shelling and firing by the Pakistan Rangers in Jammu and Kashmir’s R.S. Pura sector early on Friday.

Though Indian army time and again has given a befitting reply to Pakistan’s misadventures, the frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistan is turning life in Kashmir into a hell.
