Along with the new Redmi 2 smartphone, Xiaomi launched its MiPad tablet in the Indian market at Rs 12,999. The new MiPad tablet, which was originally launched in June last year in China, has a 7.9-inch screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 2.2GHz quad-core Tegra K1 processor.
Under the hood, the MIUI-powered tablet also has 2GB RAM and 16GB on-board storage. On the back is an 8MP camera with Sony lens, while a 5MP camera is placed in front.
Xiaomi claims that its 6,700mAh battery can last up to 11 hours. It measures 8.5mm in thickness and weighs 360 gram.
The all-new MiPad does not offer cellular data support for connectivity on-the-go, which is available in more expensive rivals like Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Apple iPad mini 2 and 3.
Xiaomi India head Manu Jain said that the company will not hold a flash sale of MiPad, instead going for an open sale that has been scheduled for March 24, the same day as the flash sale for Redmi 2 smartphone.
