The love jihad case of Kerala has been in a legal battle for so long. And today the Supreme Court had given its verdict.
The Supreme Court has observed that the marital status of Hadiya cannot be questioned. In the previous hearing in November, the apex court had asked Hadiya to return to her studies in Salem.
The three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said that the National Investigation Agency cannot look at the marital status of Hadiya with Shafin Jahan as she is an adult.

The court said they can’t question legitimacy of Hadiya’s choice. “A major woman can’t be forced to live with her parents. Only Hadiya had a right to decide on her choices,” the bench said.
“Can a court annul a marriage when both the man and the woman are adults? Will deal with only this question of law,” the court added.
The court further added that the NIA probe will have no bearing on the legitimacy of the marriage and will set terms.
The court will hear the matter of February 22.
