These are the reasons Why “Padmavat” is going to be a very big hit
‘Padmaavat’, one of the most controversial movies of Bollywood, has finally got its release date, which is on January 25. But, it has not been easy sailing for the movie. Many hardship have been faced by people associated with the movie. CBFC has also given its nod to the movie with some cuts and ordered to change the name from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmavat’ and later Padmaavat. So, in this article, we will look at the controversies face by the movie.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie’s director, was manhandled during the shoot in Rajasthan. A group of people from Karni Sena opposed the movie and wanted a ban on it. Karni Sena openly threatened high-intensity violence if the movie is released. Rumours are galore that the movie shows a love-affair between Queen Padmavati and the invader Allaudin Khiljhi.
Here are the reasons Why “Padmavat” is going to be a very big hit :
A Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the NAME ITSELF carries a lot of weight in the entertainment industry. His films have been termed as “poetry in motion” with beautifully colored and detailed frames, so much so that you can very well complain about having too much color to deal with at one go! This itself goes to prove the kind of hard work that the filmmaker puts into all his projects.
The Karni Sena – The Unpaid PR.
When you have a film coming along, one is bound to promote their films left, right and center. But, in the case of Padmaavat, the lead actors have hardly had to promote their film personally, as the Karni Sena, who are surprisingly STILL against the release, have pretty much put it out in the world that “There’s this epic film directed by some Sanjay Leela Bhansali, known as Padmaavat. It distorts the facts of history and we are hence against its release” Well, dear Karni Sena, while you’re protesting its release, you’re in fact PROMOTING the film! So, who’s really winning?

A sense of intrigue.
This is no secret that whenever a film has landed itself in a controversy, it has always caught multiple eyeballs, even of those who wouldn’t have anything remotely to do with the film or the Industry. So, given that this film had invited THE MOTHER OF ALL CONTROVERSIES, It’s natural for the audience to think “So, what’s the fuss really all about? Let’s check it out!” There you go. You make the audience curious about a film, you automatically get them to theatre halls. Cha-Ching!
A solo release.
Every single time the team of Padmavati (which is now Padmaavat) has announced a release date, all other films which were supposed to release along with and around it have quietly backed off. Of course, who wouldn’t? But, we were kind of getting scared this time, because when Padmaavat announced its new release date, it had taken the challenge of going up against Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, until the latter gracefully postponed his release to February 9. Now, this means that the film will have a release that will be as wide as it gets, which will mean that multiple ticket counters will keep ringing (or, god forbid, reduced to ashes by you-know-who!).
Ranveer-Deepika’s FIRE!
Although Mr. Bhansali has made it loud and clear that Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmavati (played by alleged lovebirds, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone respectively) do not share as much as a single frame together, they are pretty much the highlight of the film because of what looks like two VERY strong individual performances by them (And yes, Shahid Kapoor too, sorry about that!). Also, fans of the alleged couple can flock in to expect an Easter egg or two. These are who you call helplessly-optimistic romantics.
A Bhansali film + free marketing by the Karni Sena + The curiosity of the audience + No other release on that day + The power of the alleged couple = BOX OFFICE ON FIRE!
