What Happens When You Blindly Follow GPS?

Even If Your GPS Says Turn Left, If Left Is a Lake … Maybe Don’t Listen to Your GPS…..!!

Following directions from a Global Positioning System (GPS) app, a woman drove her Jeep into a lake whilst on a road trip with her friends in Vermont.

The three friends from Connecticut who were on a ski vacation, were driving in Vermont following the GPS when they realised their vehicle was sinking into Lake Champlain.

“I was speechless. My first thing was, ‘Is everybody OK?’ Because this could have had a very bad ending, and luckily everybody was alright,” Tara Guertin, the owner of the Jeep said.

Guertin’s buddies were able to safely escape the sinking Jeep. But the vehicle was left in the lake for more than a week.

Guertin contacted Donley’s Underwater Salvage, which removed the vehicle Monday. A diver, Pierre Larocque, says he rolled the vehicle onto its wheels before his team pulled the car out of the frozen lake.

“It’s impossible to comment here without seeing the user’s driving file and we haven’t received permission to do so-generally speaking, Waze maps are updated with millions of edits to adapt to real time road conditions daily, often making them the most accurate available,” a spokesperson for Google told

The spokesperson also said that the company encourages drivers to keep their eyes on the road and not follow the app’s directions blindly.
