Mammootty too has made his fans happy by hinting that he too may share screen space with his son Dulquer Salmaan.
He said that he might act along with Dulquer in future. However, he added he was unable to say when it would happen. The megastar was talking to the scribes in Abu Dhabi, as part of the promotional tour of his latest flick Streetlights directed by debutant Shamdat Sainudeen.
“It is for the first time that I have come to the UAE for the promotion and premier of one of my movies. Though there are lots of Malayalis in the GCC countries, Malayalam movies were not released here at the same time as it gets released in Kerala. Maybe lot of movies in other languages get released in that way here.
The audience here, who watch latest Malayalam movies on websites and the like, usually feels a little embarrassed when the movie reaches theaters. But my earlier movie Varsham which was also produced by Play House was released in the GCC along with the theaters in Kerala. The audience residing in the GCC has always appreciated and received my movies with much enthusiasm,” said Mammootty.
Mammootty said that his character in Street Lights was unique and though he has essayed the role of a police officer in countless movies, he had tried to portray each one differently.
He added that the police officer that he plays in Street Lights too was different and that he chose to act in action thrillers so that more audience would watch it.
The Masterpiece actor even revealed that he may have acted in at least tens of thousands of action sequences so far in his entire career.
He said, “Soubin Shahir and Sohan Seenulal who acted in Street Lights are directors also. Shamdat is a talented artist. New directors are given opportunities as I believe that they have something new to say. Every actor who has acted in Street Lights has prominence in the narrative. Many eventful things happen between the glare of streetlights in our society, and this movie, Street Lights is all about those events. It would really be a challenge for the director to present a thriller without actually making the audience yawn.”
Megastar Mammootty said that it is actually the audience who should evaluate whether a movie is good or bad after watching it.
Street Lights directed by Shamdat Sainudeen is a thriller released in both Malayalam and Tamil and bankrolled by Play House owned by Mammootty.
