Rahul Gandhi mocks Modi government over Economic Survey with a music video

Taking a swipe at the government over the Economic Survey 2018 released today, Congress president Rahul Gandhi sarcastically said “Don’t worry Be Happy!”.

In a tweet that leaned on Bobby McFerrin’s popular 1988 hit ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’, Rahul Gandhi mocked the Modi-led government’s assurance of “acche din” (that is, ‘good days’).

He called the Centre out over “minor hiccups”, claiming that growth in key areas like industry, agriculture, gross domestic product (GDP) and employment had actually fallen.

The Economic Survey, prepared by chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian, was tabled in Parliament by finance minister Arun Jaitley.

It is a precursor to Jaitley’s annual budget presentation on February 1.

According to the survey, India is expected to regain the tag of the world’s fastest growing major economy, touching a growth rate of 7-7.5 per cent in 2018-19.
