This reason made pregnant woman to give birth at the front gate of a healthcare center

In an incident which allegedly highlights careless attitude of medical staff in Uttar Pradesh, a woman on Monday delivered a baby at the gate of a healthcare center in Shahganj in Jaunpur district of the state after she was allegedly denied admission into the hospital for not having a bank account and an Aadhaar card, reports ANI.

The woman’s husband has claimed that the doctor turned them away when they revealed that they did not have an Aadhaar Card. After this, the woman started feeling labor pain and she delivered the baby at the gates of the medical center in Shahganj. He said, “When we went to the hospital the staff sent us back saying they won’t admit her.

She asked for some documents which we didn’t have so she sent us back. As soon as we moved out she gave birth at the hospital.” The Medical superintendent, however, told ANI that doctors referred the woman to the district hospital. He said that the women told him that she will be taken there by someone she knew.

As she reached the gate, she experienced labor pain after which she was immediately brought in and her baby was delivered. The official also informed that both mother and child are safe now.

Earlier on December 30 last year, a woman who was a wife of a Kargil braveheart lost her life at a private hospital in Haryana’s Sonepat after allegedly being denied treatment due to lack of Aadhaar Card.

The son of the deceased woman alleged that he brought his ailing mother to the hospital for treatment but the hospital refused as he did not have the original copy of the Aadhaar card.“I brought my mother in a serious condition to the hospital.

They asked me to get the Aadhaar card, but I didn’t have it then so I showed them a copy on my phone. I said that I will get Aadhaar in an hour or so, meanwhile begin with the treatment but the hospital refused to do so,” he told ANI.

However, the hospital authorities denied the allegation leveled by the victim’s son saying that the Aadhaar card was mandatory only for documentation process and not for treatment.

In a move to give Aadhaar card more utility, the government has called for people having savings bank account to link them with Aadhaar to prevent their accounts from getting deactivated. The last date for linking bank accounts with Aadhaar is 31st March 2018. Bank accounts not linked with Aadhaar after the deadline will be deactivated.
