Farhaan Behardien has been called up as a replacement, while  Heinrich Klaasen has been called up as a reserve wicketkeeper. The captain for the remaining of the ODI series will be announced today.

The absence of Du Plessis and AB de Villiers, the star batsman will severely dent the chances of South Africa in these upcoming high-profile matches.

The 33-year-old Du Plessis will undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation in order to be fit for the first Test against Australia, set to begin on March 1 in Durban. The fracture is expected to require 3-6 weeks to heal.
